Where Is Everyone??

I'm calling calling calling and emailing emailing and emailing again and still can't reach the people I really want to talk with. Seems like the story of my life. However, I know that if I do this enough that results do start showing up.

Am getting closer to having more interested HRMS Functional candidates, may have found a couple of CRM Solutions Architects and still am talking with Apps DBA candidates. But it all takes time and effort. I hope we can wrap a few of these candidates up next week.

I am moving this weekend to the larger apartment next door. We wanted an extra bedroom for whenever our kids want to visit (or to entice them to visit) and this will give us the room for this. Plus, I get to save money because the rent on the larger apartment is actually a little less than extending the lease on my current place. Moving, even just next door, is a real pain though. I am not going to enjoy the next few days. I did learn my lesson long ago though to not try and move the heavy stuff by myself. Now we always get the aid of professional movers to do the heavy furniture.

On one of the recruiting listservs that I belong to, I have been watching the comments from recruiters all around the country on using various ruses during the recruiting process to find and get candidates interested in making a change. To me this practice is unethical and I am strongly against using methods like what I have been reading to source possible candidates. But it is really disturbing and sad to see how many other recruiters out there feel that this is the only way they can succeed in this business. It is no wonder that candidates don't view recruiters with much esteem.

Busy Camper with New Openings

I guess I have to learn to discipline myself to update this on a more regular basis. However, when busy posting jobs, talking with candidates, hiring people, etc., I tend to forget that I also have this responsibility.

Have been really busy searching, talking with, and hopefully soon, hiring a new Apps DBA here in the Chicago area. Out of the blue I was told we needed someone in the next couple of weeks and after my initial search efforts failed to turn up anyone that looked worth talking to, I was starting to worry that I was going to fail on this effort. But then it seems that the flood gates opened up and now I have more qualified candidates than we need. Nice position for us to be in but I imagine it can be frustrating on our candidates. Maybe this supports the "If you build it, they will come" concept. If you broadcast a large enough net looking for candidates, you will catch some!!

Now my urgent needs are for 3 or more experienced Oracle HR Functional Consultants. I know finding these are going to be tough because so many good consultants in this area will no longer accept salaried positions, they just want to do contract projects. But hopefully if I beat enough bushes, some good choices will fall out. It appears that the Oracle HR arena is really busy right now and should be that way for maybe several years. This should allow for good growth potential for any of our HR consultants to really expand their skills as this practice area grows for AST. I have been a week's worth of net casting so far and it looks like I might see some results next week.

Still on the hunt for a solid CRM/TCA Solution Architect and maybe 2 good CRM Functional candidates. This also seems to be a growing practice area with AST.

On a personal front, as busy as I am at work, I am also getting prepared to move in a couple weeks to a larger apartment and have to find time to pack everything. I really hate moving but getting a larger apartment in my same complex for less money that what I was having to pay for the current apartment was just too good of a deal to pass over. Plus, my wife will be happy because now we will have an extra bedroom for whenever her daughter wants to stay with us.
